Paddy Barnes will make his pro boxing debut in Belfast next month

Barnes set for Titanic card on 5 November.

IRELAND’S TWO-TIME Olympic medallist Paddy Barnes will make his professional boxing debut in Belfast next month.

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that Barnes will feature on the bill at the Titanic Exhibition Centre on 5 November, headlined by Jamie Conlan.

And there will be huge Irish interest in the card with Con Sheehan, Sean ‘Big Sexy’ Turner, Stephen Ormond, Declan Geraghty, Sean Creagh, Gary Sweeney, Marco McCullogh, Tyrone McKenna and Steven Ward all in action.

No opponent has been named yet for Barnes or for Conlan, who is undefeated in 17 pro bouts and eyeing a world title shot in 2017.

“Belfast is always special when it comes to boxing as it is a fight city and the Irish really know their boxing,” Warren said.

“I’m excited to be coming back and with Jamie Conlan never being in a dull fight, excitement is guaranteed.

“Paddy Barnes is something special and it will be an honour to promote his first professional outing after his illustrious amateur career and three Olympic Games which in itself is an incredible achievement.”

The card will be televised live on BoxNation.
