Paul Galvin makes sensational return to Kerry setup

Galvin announced his retirement last year.

2009 FOOTBALLER OF the year Paul Galvin has made a dramatic comeback to the Kerry senior squad.

The Kerry GAA website this evening revealed a statement from manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice, confirming Galvin’s shock return.

“Paul Galvin has re-joined the Kerry Senior Football squad and resumed training this evening”.

The news is a major surprise after Galvin had announced his retirement from the game last February.

The 35-year-old won four All-Ireland senior football medals with Kerry in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009

He also won seven Munster senior football medals with Kerry and three National League honours.

On a personal level, Galvin’s performances were rewarded with Allstars in 2004, 2006 and 2009. He was also crowned Footballer of the Year in 2009.
