Paul O'Donovan added another iconic phrase to Irish sport on RTÉ yesterday

It’s the new Pull Like A Dog.

THE SPORTING SUCCESS of the weekend has undoubtedly been Skibbereen man Paul O’Donovan winning gold at the World Rowing Championships yesterday.

He’s well known for his “pull like a dog” phrase in an interview with RTÉ Sport straight after his semi-final at the Olympics – and yesterday he was at it again.

Speaking with RTÉ’s Saturday Sport on Radio One, he summed up his World Championship form before the final:

“I was rowing like a bit of a gobshite in the earlier rounds but I managed to sort it out”

It caught on right away

As the RTÉ Facebook post went viral, it only made him more endearing:

Got to love him! Rowing like a Gobshite!

While the word gobshite was introduced to a wider audience:

Must add ”gobshite” to my vocabulary!!
