WHEN PHIL NEVILLE lined up alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen and David James to represent England in the Soccer Sixes last night, he probably thought it would be a chance to stretch his legs while having a bit of a laugh with old friends.
He probably didn’t expect Carles Puyol to put the boot in like this:

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Neville said, half-tongue in cheek:
“It is the worst tackle that I have ever seen on a football field. I hope Uefa, Fifa and the FA are going to have a look at this.
And the thing that upset me more than anything is that the referee said that he had got the ball.
“Honestly, it was a horrendous tackle and that was only two or three minutes into the game, so was a bit of an eye opener.”
For his part, Puyol took to Twitter afterwards to apologise:
The match was part of the Star Sixes masters tournament taking place in London.
‘McGregor and Vardy decided their fate. If it’s possible for them, it should be possible for me’
