Everton's new boy Richarlison targeting Premier League Golden Boot

The 21-year-old has made an explosive start with the Toffees and is hopeful that such form can continue for the duration of the season

EVERTON ATTACKER RICHARLISON is aiming to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot award this season and also wants to guide the Toffees into the Champions League.

The Brazilian is in his first season at Goodison Park having arrived from Watford in the summer for £40 million ($52m) and has made an excellent start to life on Merseyside.

On his Premier League debut for the Toffees, he scored twice as they defeated Wolves and then struck in the 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.

Now he hopes that type of form can continue in the weeks ahead – and he is confident that he will enjoy a season of consistency, having faded last term.

“I feel more prepared, I already know the rhythm and style of the Premier League, which helps me on the way to the achievements,” the 21-year-old told UOL.

“I want to be the top scorer of the league, take Everton back to the Champions League and reach the Brazilian national team.”

Indeed, he was left disappointed when he was overlooked by Brazil boss Tite, who named his squad for friendlies against the USA and El Salvador last Friday.

“I was anxious during the call-ups on Friday. I watched with a lot of expectation, but sadly it wasn’t this time,” he said.

“Even so, I’m still hopeful and I want to be prepared if the opportunity arrives in the future.”

Last term, the attacker started brilliantly, scoring five times and picking up four assists in the opening 13 games of the season.

Thereafter, he hit a drought as speculation over his future mounted. He mustered only one further assist before the end of the season and failed to make any type of decisive contribution for his side after Christmas.

He will hope to continue his scoring streak on Saturday, though, when Marco Silva’s side make the trip to the south coast to face Bournemouth.
