Robinson names starting XV for Irish test

Glasgow’s Johnnie Beattie returns from a shoulder injury to start at number eight.

ANDY ROBINSON HAS made five changes to the Scotland side ahead of Saturday’s World Cup warm-up match against Ireland in Murrayfield.

The Scotland coach named an all-changed back row from the side which started the 21-8 victory over Italy in the final game of the 2011 Six Nations.

At number eight, Johnnie Beattie makes his international return after missing most of the Six Nations through injury, while 25-year-old Ross Rennie is handed a first international start at openside flanker.

Gloucester’s Alasdair Strokosch completes the back row on the blindside, while Jim Hamilton comes in to replace Nathan Hines in the second row.

The only personnel change in the backs sees Graeme Morrison selected to partner Joe Ansbro in the centre, with Sean Lamont switching to the wing and Simon Danielli

Declan Kidney is not expected to name the Irish starting XV until Thursday.

Scotland (vs. Ireland): Paterson; Walker, Ansbro, Morrison, Lamont; Jackson, Lawson (c); Jacobsen, Ford, Cross; Hamilton, Gray; Strokosch, Beattie, Rennie. Replacements: Hall, Dickinson, Kellock, Denton, Laidlaw, De Luca, Cuthbert.
