REPUBLIC OF IRELAND international Seamus Coleman is wanted by Louis van Gaal as the Manchester United manager’s search for a right-back continues.
Dani Alves’ decision to stay at Barcelona and Nathaniel Clyne’s impending move to Liverpool have seen United turn their attention to Coleman with the club preparing to table a €20 million bid.
Reports in England are this morning suggesting the Red Devils have made the Everton right-back their primary target with the Toffees bracing themselves for an approach.
It’s believed van Gaal is a big admirer of Coleman and believes the 26-year-old would fit into his preferred 3-5-2 formation at Old Trafford. The Dutch boss has told the club’s hierarchy to finalise a deal immediately.
The former Sligo Rovers defender has been a long-term target for United and the form of Antonia Valencia and Rafael last season has forced van Gaal to pursue a move for Coleman this summer.
The Irishman, who recently got married, was heavily linked with a move to United twelve months ago but eventually signed a new five-year contract at Everton.
