Power hit three birdies in the opening round.

SEAMUS POWER HAS made an impressive start in the Honda Classic, and sits just four shots off the current leader C.T. Pan, who has taken over from joint-leaders Cody Gribble and Wesley Bryan.

Waterford native Power recorded three birdies, an eagle and three bogeys on the way to carding a two-under par first round of 68 to leave him in a strong position on the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, Padraig Harrington and Graeme McDowell struggled to two-over par rounds of 72 on Thursday.
