Ex-Ireland international and Liverpool assistant steps down as Walsall manager

The League One side are currently challenging for promotion.

FORMER IRELAND INTERNATIONAL Sean O’Driscoll has stepped down from his role as Walsall head coach.

The League One side are currently fourth in the table, but the club have gone six games without a win.

O’Driscoll took over as manager in December, following Dean Smith’s move to Brentford, after a stint as Liverpool assistant boss, but this weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Barnsley ultimately cost the 58-year-old his job.

The club remain just five points off the automatic promotion places despite their recent struggles.
