Where to WAtch

Where are the best places to watch McGregor v Alvarez at UFC 205 in Ireland?

There are a few options around the city if you’re looking to stay out until the early hours of Sunday morning.

MADISON SQUARE GARDEN in New York plays host to UFC 205 tonight, and of course the Notorious Conor McGregor is hoping to make it a historic occasion.

The main event, McGregor’s clash with Alvarez, marks his first appearance in the UFC’s lightweight division. If the Dubliner takes the belt from the undisputed champion, he would become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously.

Now, that is something you surely don’t want to miss.

For those of you who weren’t lucky enough to make the trip to the Big Apple, you have a decision to make — stay in, go out or head to sleep at a reasonable hour and wait until Sunday morning to find out what happened.

For those dedicated to watching it live, it’s either a matter of staying up late or getting up very early to see McGregor in action. The main card kicks off at 3am, but the reigning featherweight champion and his opponent probably won’t take to the ring until after 5am.

You can watch it from the comfort of your own home, but the only way you can (legally) do so is on BT Sport 2.

Some may prefer to be out on the town to watch the fight and soak in the atmosphere. If this is the case, you’re in luck because we’ve put a list together of a few venues around Dublin showing the action.

  • The Living Room and Murray’s Bar (Cathal Brugha Street) are showing the full card from 11pm, but the event is ticketed. Tickets are on sale at the door for €20 with last entrance at 3am.
  • Sin Nightclub (Sycamore Street) are also showing the entire event on their screens. Doors open at 10pm and last entry is 1am. The event is strictly over 20s and entry will set you back €15.

  • Show Dublin Nightclub at The Plaza in Tallaght is another option. It’s over 18s, you can pay at the door from 11pm and there will be a late bar.
  • The Green Isle Hotel (Newland Cross, Clondalkin) are also streaming the event on massive screens, with tickets at €20. You can either buy them on Ticketmaster or at the hotel, and doors open at 11pm.
