LIKE MANY SPORTS fans, we dip in and out of darts here at TheScore.ie HQ.

We have really enjoyed Brendan Dolan’s run to the final at the World Grand Prix in Dublin though, the Northern Irishman claiming his place in style with a superb nine-dart finish.

In action against defending James Wade, Dolan threw 160, 180 and 161 towards the end of the second set and eventually set up a showdown with Phil Taylor by a score line of 5-2.

Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, Dolan said: “I can’t believe it myself. The form I’ve had this year… I never expected (to reach) a final in a major competition. The money doesn’t matter, it’s about getting to a final and making a name for myself.”

The 38-year-old Fermanagh native played in his first Major tournament semi-final in taking on Wade and when he was asked about those nine darts, he concluded: “The only thing I thought when I did it was, ‘I’ve done it before Phil’, because he will do it!”
