Boxer forced to pull out of British title fight after 'brick' attack

Ahmet Patterson was attacked while running.

UNBEATEN SUPER-WELTERWEIGHT Ahmet Patterson was forced to pull out of his British title fight after he was attacked with a brick while out running.

Patterson was due to fight Liam Williams this Saturday night in Cardiff on the undercard of Billy Joe Saunders’ world title defence.

The 29-year-old said that he was attacked while out running last week and released a photo of his facial injuries through promoter Frank Warren.

“I was doing my road work when I noticed a group of men gathering on the pavement around 50 yards in front of me,” Patterson said in a statement.

“I tried to run around them but they moved in front of me and blocked my path.

“As I ran around them one of the men struck me in the face with a brick and we got in a scuffle. Once I started defending myself they ran off.”

Williams will now face Gabor Gorbics for the vacant WBO European Super-Welterweight title instead.
