WITH JAMES MCCARTHY ruled out through injury, Aiden McGeady will be the only Scottish-born player in the Ireland squad as they visit Celtic Park on Friday night, but the winger insists he’s treating it as just another game.
Earlier this week, former Scottish international Gordon McQueen provoked a strong reaction when he said of McCarthy and McGeady:
“Will it be hard for them coming back here with Ireland? I really hope so. I hope they get a horrible reception because they deserve it.”
However, McGeady says he’s just concentrating on the game itself and is not worried about any potential reaction.
“If you just break it down and think about it, it’s just another game isn’t it?” he told FAITV.
“I know you’ve got all the other things, the other side of it, people coming out in the press and saying their bit on myself and James getting booed or whatever.
“That’s part and parcel of football, it’s what’s going to happen.
“All I have to do is go into the game and try to play the way I can and help the team get a positive result.”
McGeady also goes on the break down exactly how he ended up playing for Ireland.
