'I don't think about these things' - Ancelotti laughs off Mourinho job swap

The coach did admit that he would like to manage Real Madrid “one day”.

PARIS SAINT GERMAIN boss Carlo Ancelotti on Friday laughed off rumours that he and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho could swap jobs.

Ancelotti had told Italian television in midweek that he could picture himself in the Madrid hotseat.

But he played down the story on Friday, adding that he appreciates his future at the Paris club, which is bankrolled by deep Qatari pockets, will always be in doubt.

On Thursday, he had told Sky Sport Italia: “I see myself one day in Madrid because they are a team with incredible history.”

On Friday, however, the former Chelsea coach said that although he had been in contact with Real Madrid, it was a thing of the past.

“I had contact with Real, but it’s finished. The last time I spoke to them was three years ago, before I went to Chelsea. I also said that I could see myself in Rome.”

On speculation that he and Mourinho will swap jobs, Ancelotti was equally dismissive.

“It makes me laugh, but these things are normal in football. I don’t think about it, I think about my work here and doing my best.”

PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi insists the 53-year-old Ancelotti is safe in the job — for now — after guiding the club to the Champions League last 16.

But in Ligue 1 they have fallen five points off the pace.

“I don’t think about these things. I have been working since 1995, I have taken charge of 824 matches and my job is always under threat. It’s not a problem.”
