Anheuser-Busch will not renew Armstrong deal

The firm also have said they will continue to support the Livestrong Foundation and its cycling and running events.

BREWERS ANHEUSER-BUSCH InBev will not renew a sponsorship deal with disgraced US cycling star Lance Armstrong in the wake of the latest doping revelations, an executive said Wednesday.

The firm, which used Armstrong in advertisements for its Michelob Ultra brand beer, said it will continue to support Livestrong, the anti-cancer charity that cancer-survivor Armstrong founded 15 years ago.

“We have decided not to renew our relationship with Lance Armstrong when our current contract expires at the end of 2012,” said Paul Chibe, Anheuser-Busch vice president of US marketing.

“We will continue to support the Livestrong Foundation and its cycling and running events.”

Armstrong signed a three-year deal with Anheuser-Busch at the end of 2009.
