Another fine mess: fears grow for Bohs' future

Bohemians bosses make appeal for funds.

JUST WHAT THE the league needed in the build-up to its big day out at the Aviva on Sunday – yet another domestic giant is in financial trouble.

As, Bohemians’ future as a League Of Ireland club is in serious doubt, Dalymount Park officials have appealed to fans for financial help.

The Gypsies need €105,000 for the revenue before next Friday and another €200,000 to pay their players before the end of the month.

Members were informed of the financial situation on Wednesday and the bid to raise funds is kicking into gear.

Damien Richardson, speaking on RTÉ radio earlier, says he fears for the future of Bohemians.

You would most definitely fear for the future of the club.

I would think they will be able to come up with the money somehow because they have some very talented people in the background, although you would not know that from what has happened.

I’m afraid that Bohemians reflect the naïve ambition that was allowed to overrule reality in full-time football in Ireland.

We got great success in European football, and full-time football allowed too many people to let their hearts rule their heads, and (the situation at Bohemians) is a serious example of this.
