Conte commits to Chelsea as he signs new two-year deal

‘Now we must work even harder to stay at the top,’ the Italian said after signing the deal.

CHELSEA MANAGER ANTONIO Conte has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Last season, the Italian lead his side to Premier League glory on first asking, overseeing the Blues to a record 30 wins in a single season.

On his arrival at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2016 he signed a three-year contract. The new deal represents improved terms for Conte himself, but is not an extension.

“I am very happy to have signed a new contract with Chelsea,” he told the Chelsea FC website.

“We worked extremely hard in our first year to achieve something amazing, which I am very proud of. Now we must work even harder to stay at the top.

“The Chelsea fans have given me so much support since I arrived here one year ago and it is important we continue to succeed together.”

Paolo Vanoli joins the 47-year-old’s coaching staff as assistant to the first team head coach, while fellow Italian Davide Mazzotta will work as assistant/player analysis.

The announcement was made on the club’s official website, as they jet off for their pre-season tour in Asia.

While there, the Premier League champions will face Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
