TROY PARROTT HAS tonight completed his move to Spanish side Real Betis from AZ Alkmaar.

The Dubliner has been linked with several European clubs following an impressive 2025-26 campaign and has now made the move for a fee that The42 understands will be in the region of €20 million.

Last season, Parrott scored 31 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions at club level with AZ Alkmaar, plus six goals in Ireland’s World Cup qualifying campaign, including a memorable hat-trick away to Hungary.

“Very, very happy,” Parrott said about the move after arriving in Seville today, with the Real Betis confirming the move tonight, as did AZ Alkmaar.

West Ham, Ajax and Porto were among the clubs linked with a move for the 24-year-old.

But Parrott has now moved to Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who finished fifth in La Liga last season to qualify for the Champions League.

In a statement released by AZ Alkmaar, Parrott thanked the Eredivisie club and their supporters.

“The past two years have been the best of my life so far. When I came here, I wasn’t feeling very enthusiastic about football for a while. Everyone at AZ helped me get my career back on track and to be able to make this move to Spain now. I cannot thank you enough for the days we spent together. I will carry the memories we made together with me forever.

“I want to say to the supporters that they have played a huge part in the wonderful past few years. Our relationship has grown, and I have seen how much this team means to the people from the region. Winning the cup and celebrating it with the supporters is my most special memory.

“It has been an emotional journey, and I am forever grateful to them. When I came here, it was my plan to make them cheer often. Given how my own development has progressed and how the people here have encouraged us, that has been more than successful.”
