Cork City manager Barry Robson signs new two-year contract

The Rebel Army are seeking to consolidate Premier Division status after gaining promotion.

CORK CITY MANAGER Barry Robson has signed a new two-year contract after topping the League of Ireland First Division in his first year at the club.

The 47-year-old has signed a deal to keep him at the Turner’s Cross club until the end of 2028.

After his appointment at the start of the 2026 season, Robson guided City’s return to the League of Ireland. The Rebel Army won the league at a canter, 19 points ahead of nearest rivals UCD.

Test

Robson will face a tough test in keeping his side up next season, as this is their third promotion to the League of Ireland in just six years.

The league title was the first trophy as a manager for Robson, who previously managed Aberdeen where he was appointed following a successful period as interim manager.

He was sacked in early 2024 and Robson moved on to Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship, where he managed until late in 2025.

The former Scotland international had spells at Celtic, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United among others during his playing days.
