Ireland's teenage showjumping star still has a great chance of winning the World Cup final

Bertram Allen and Molly Malone are still in the medal positions after the second round in Las Vegas.

WEXFORD TEEN BERTRAM Allen remains in the medal hunt as the Longines World Cup Final reaches its climax in Las Vegas.

A single mistake cost the 19-year-old his place in Friday night’s jump-off but he still sits third overall ahead of Sunday’s finale.

Allen set the early pace on Thursday with a brilliant opening leg on board Molly Malone, but relinquished his overnight lead when he caught the last rail of a triple combination for four faults.

It meant he had to settle for seventh place, allowing Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat and Richard Fellers of America to leapfrog him in the overall standings.
