Brown suspended for Twitter outburst

Sheffield United have suspended the reserve team player for comments he apparently tweeted after Ched Evans’ rape conviction

SHEFFIELD UNITED HAVE suspended reserve player Connor Brown for tweets he made about convicted teammate Ched Evans.

Evans was sent to prison for five years after being found guilty of rape and 19-year-old clubmate Brown made various comments on the subject via his Twitter account.

A complaint was made to the North Wales police by a rape charity in relation to Brown’s comments. The Blades yesterday confirmed that they would be looking into the case, and they have now suspended the player.

A club statement read: “Sheffield United Football Club have suspended reserve team player Connor Brown with immediate effect pending an internal investigation into comments apparently posted on his personal Twitter account.

“There will be no further comment from the club during the process of the investigation which it hopes to conclude swiftly.”
