Cav: I’ve made up my mind on Team Sky switch

The “Manx Missile” says he knows who he’ll be cycling for next year. But who’s it going to be?

TOUR DE FRANCE green jersey winner Mark Cavendish has decided which team he’ll cycle for next season, but he’s keeping the details to himself for now.

The Manxman, who captured this year’s points classification title in the colours of the HTC-Highroad team, has been the subject of a high-profile courtship by British outfit Team Sky in recent months.

Reports indicated that Sky bosses were prepared to offer Cavendish a deal worth £1.5m which would see him join fellow countrymen Bradley Wiggins and Geraint Thomas for the 2012 season.

And, while the 26-year-old preferred to concentrate on his cycling rather than speculation about his future, he told BBC 5 Live this morning that he had made up his mind.

“I have decided. I decided on Saturday, I was in a hotel in Eindhoven,” Cavendish said.

You just know. You know when something’s right.

However, he wouldn’t be drawn on whether or not he would be leaving HTC-Highroad, saying “I want to go to the best place to help me win and that might mean staying where I am now.”
