IT’S BEEN SIX years since Cavan have fielded a senior level inter-county hurling team.
Their long absence ends on Saturday however, as they return to competitive action in the Lory Meagher Cup.
Since their disbandment in the middle of the 2011 season, Cavan have been the only county without a senior inter-county hurling side. They were granted permission to return to the championship’s fourth-tier towards the end of last year.
The Breffni county host Division 3B finalists Warwickshire this weekend, and will also face Leitrim, Sligo, Lancashire and Fermanagh in the competition.
They did not compete in this year’s league.
