Ajax win sends Celtic tumbling out of Europe

Ronny Deila’s side exit Europa League with just two points from five games.

CELTIC’S 2-1 DEFEAT at home to Ajax saw them eliminated with a game still to play in the Europa League group stages.

Vaclav Cerny scored this goal with two minutes left to condemn Ronny Deila’s side to an early European exit:

Callum McGregor got the hosts off to a perfect start when he curled in the game’s opening goal after just four minutes, but Polish international Arkadiusz Milik had Ajax back on terms inside 22 minutes.

With Fenerbahce beating Molde 2-0 in the other Group A game, a draw would not have been enough to keep Celtic’s hopes alive.

As they pressed for the winner, Cerny broke away and slotted the ball past Gordon at his near post.
