Clinton Morrison says he's open to a possible League of Ireland move

“It looks like it’s a good standard,” says former Ireland international.

FORMER IRELAND INTERNATIONAL Clinton Morrison would “definitely” consider a move to the League of Ireland.

The striker, who scored nine goals in 36 Ireland caps, has been a free agent since his contract at Colchester United ran out in the summer.

League One side Port Vale are thought to be interested but Morrison, 35, would not rule out a stint in the SSE Airtricity League.

“I’m after watching a few of the games today and it looks like it’s a good standard,” he said on RTÉ’s Soccer Republic last night. “It looks like there’s some really good football.

Obviously you’ve got the likes Stephen McPhail, Colin Healy and Keith Fahey playing. They’re all still top players and probably could still do it back in England. It looks like it’s a good level.

“If a good opportunity came for me to come and play for one of the teams over here, I’d definitely think about it.”
