Tipperary All-Ireland winner and Ballyhale All-Ireland boss gets new role with Carlow

The Cashel native has a new job with the Premier county.

TIPPERARY ALL-IRELAND medalist and Ballyhale All-Ireland winning manager Colm Bonnar has been appointed as new Carlow senior hurling boss.

The announcement was made last night with Turlough O’Brien also confirmed as the county’s football manager again in 2017.

Bonnar won All-Ireland senior medals as a player with Tipperary in 1989 and 1991 while also claiming five Munster senior titles during his playing career.

In 1982 Bonnar won an All-Ireland minor medal and he was an All-Ireland U21 champion in 1985.

At management level Bonnar was at the helm of the Wexford senior hurlers between 2008 and 2011, while he has enjoyed superb success in winning Fitzgibbon Cup titles with Waterford IT.

In 2015, Bonnar along with Tipperary native Andy Moloney guided Kilkenny’s Ballyhale Shamrocks to the All-Ireland senior club hurling title with a final win over Limerick’s Kilmallock.
