CONNACHT’S EXHAUSTING TRIP to Siberia will extend into tomorrow after the squad’s flight home from Krasnoyarsk was unable to take off due to technical difficulties.
Pat Lam’s side were meant to make the 6,000km journey home from Russia this afternoon after opening their European Challenge Cup campaign with a bonus-point win over Enisei-STM.
But the province’s Twitter account has confirmed the team will now stay in Krasnoyarsk for another night before setting off for Shannon on Sunday.
Connacht braved the sub-zero temperatures to run in four tries in this morning’s 34-14 victory. Niyi Adeolokun, John Muldoon, Darragh Leader and Rory Parata all crossed in the second-half to break the back of the hosts’ dogged resistance.
The delayed journey home will eat into their recovery time with the province due to play Brive in the second round of the Challenge Cup on Friday.
