'It's possible' - Mayweather fuels speculation about super fight with McGregor

The greatest boxer of his generation says he could in fact take on the UFC featherweight champion.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR has refused to rule out stepping into the ring with Conor McGregor for a multi-million dollar fight.

Speculation that the undefeated five-division world champion boxer could face Irish MMA star McGregor emerged last week with The Sun reporting that the pair were on the verge of agreeing a match-up in Las Vegas this summer.

A bout between two of the biggest names in their respective sports would undoubtedly generate huge interest and, when asked about the rumours, 39-year-old Mayweather claimed that it could happen.

“It’s possible,” Mayweather told Liftn com. “It (McGregor) was a name that was shot at me. The rumours that y’all been hearing is the rumours that I started.

It may not be a rumour so keep your fingers crossed. It may be a boxer versus an MMA fighter — we just don’t know.”

McGregor, who was pulled from his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 200 after refusing to comply with media obligations last month, also posted a mock-up poster featuring him and Mayweather on his Facebook and Twitter accounts this afternoon.
