CONOR NASH FEATURED in his first game for Simonstown in almost a year when he came on as a first-half substitute during their 4-12 to 2-16 win over Dunboyne in the Meath SFC quarter-final.
Nash, who joined AFL outfit Hawthorn last October, was summoned from the bench as reigning champions Simonstown appeared to be in dire trouble.
They tailed by 2-10 to 0-5 at half-time but a couple of Mark McCabe goals early in the second period set the wheels in motion for a stunning comeback. Shane O’Rourke, son of Meath legend Colm, kicked a score as the title holders began to gain a foothold at midfield.
Nash made a devastating run for a Padraig McKeever goal, and the latter bagged his second goal in the final few minutes as Simonstown completed a remarkable turnaround.
