Cork sign ex-Celtic midfielder Healy on free transfer

The player, who has a number of Ireland caps to his name, is returning to the club for a second spell.

CORK CITY HAVE announced the signing of Colin Healy, who joins the club for the second time in his career, following his release from Ipswich.

Healy had spells at both Celtic and Sunderland, before a series of injuries put a halt to his career in English football.

Having joined Cork for the first time in 2007, he subsequently went to Ipswich, but has now re-signed for his hometown club.

Speaking to CorkCityFC.net, Healy described his delight at re-joining the club, saying:

“I know a lot of the players here from my previous spell at the club, and that will make it easy for me to settle in.

“Obviously I have worked with Tommy before, when Paul (Doolin) was here, and I am looking forward to doing so again. I just want to crack on now, get back training and start playing games again.”

Cork manager Tommy Dunne added that Healy, who has won 13 Ireland caps, is “a very talented player with a wealth of experience at the very top level of football”.
