Crossmaglen Rangers 0-17
Cullyhanna 0-8
CROSSMAGLEN RANGERS AMAZING dominance of Armagh club football continues as they got the better of Cullyhanna in this evening’s Armagh senior football final at the Athletic Grounds.
In the process they clinched their 17th title in 18 years and manager Joe Kernan, who was at the helm when they won back in 1996, marked his return to club management this year with another county success.
Goalkeeper Paul Hearty picked up the 17th county senior medal of a remarkable career after a game where Crossmaglen Rangers lead by 0-8 to 0-3 at half-time before an attendance of just over 8,000 people.
Callum Comiskey, Kyle Brennan, Kyle Carragher and captain Tony Kernan had all been on the mark in the opening period for Crossmaglen Rangers with Robbie Tasker helping to keep Cullyhanna in touch.
Cullyhanna, who had Armagh senior Ciaran McKeever in their ranks, cut the gap to 0-8 to 0-5 early in the second-half.
But then Crossmaglen took over with Tony Kernan, David McKenna, Aaron Cunningham and Stephen Kernan amongst their scorers as they ran out nine-point winners.
They now go forward to face Down side Kilcoo in the Ulster club championship at the quarter-final stage on November 3rd.
Crossmaglen celebrate their triumph.
