Cup final set for Sligo

Rovers look to put last year’s FAI Cup misery behind them. Surely they can’t possibly lose this one too…

The EA Sports Cup final is to be held in The Showgrounds on Saturday 25 September, the FAI last night announced.

The 2010 EA SPORTS Cup final will take place in Sligo’s The Showgrounds on Saturday, September 25th, it was confirmed today. Sligo Rovers will host Monaghan United in the final of the 2010 EA SPORTS Cup in a match which will be screened live on Setanta Ireland (kick-off 5.30pm).

The 2010 EA SPORTS Cup final sees Sligo Rovers chase their first success in the competition since 1998, while Monaghan United will compete in a national cup final for the first time in their history.

Ticket information will be announced shortly.

Sligo Rovers beat Shamrock Rovers in the semi-final, while Monaghan United defeated Dundalk to reach the final. Mons are currently second-placed in the first division, while the Bit O’Red sit 6th in the Premier.
