Ireland defender Christie 'gutted' as injury rules him out for at least three months

The Derby County full-back was forced off in their Championship fixture with Wolves over the weekend.

IRELAND HAVE BEEN dealt a blow with news that defender Cyrus Christie will be sidelined for a minimum of three months.

With Boys in Green boss Martin O’Neill due to finalise his squad for this weekend’s World Cup qualifier away to Austria, the Derby County full-back has revealed the extent of his latest injury.

Christie, capped six times for Ireland and a regular in the international set-up as Seamus on Saturday after a challenge from opposing striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.

And he tweeted this afternoon:

Gutted to be out for a minimum of three months. Will see the surgeon some point this week to check there is no more damage and get a return time.”
