Manchester United could be without David de Gea for Arsenal clash next weekend

The goalkeeper missed Spain training on Friday ahead of clashes with Belarus and Germany, and is the latest injury doubt for Louis van Gaal’s side

MANCHESTER UNITED ARE sweating over the fitness of goakeeper David de Gea after the Spaniard dislocated a finger in his right hand.

The 24-year-old will miss his side’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Belarus this evening and next week’s friendly against Germany.

His club were informed of the news yesterday but won’t know more until the national team’s medical department have established the severity of the injury.

United take on Arsenal at the Emirates next Sunday.

Here’s what the Spanish FA had to say about the matter:

Spain’s goalkeeper David de Gea was sidelined from training session after dislocating the little finger on his right hand. He will remain with the Spain squad while the medical services of the Spanish FA evaluate the extent of the injury.”

De Gea, who was voted United’s Player of the Month for October, has enjoyed a spell of fine form this season despite the club’s early struggles under Louis van Gaal.

United already have a series of injury doubts, with as many as nine first-team players – including Radamel Falcao and Marcos Rojo – currently sidelined ahead of the fixture.

Should United be without De Gea for their trip to North London next weekend, Anders Lindegaard will deputise. The Dane hasn’t made a competitive appearance for the club since April.

There remains the on-going situation involving Victor Valdes – the former Barcelona goalkeeper suffered a serious injury while still with the Catalans in March and has been undergoing rehabilitation at United and training with the team for the last month after being invited to do so by Louis van Gaal.

But he’s still some way from being match-fit and it remains to be seen if United are interested in signing him.
