Ireland’s David Meyler will be wearing rainbow laces this weekend

The Hull City midfielder is backing Paddy Power’s campaign to tackle homophobia in football.

WE BROUGHT YOU news of Paddy Power’s ‘Right Behind Gay Footballers’ campaign yesterday.

The idea is to highlight the problem of homophobia in professional football by wearing the limited edition rainbow laces, which have been issued to players of 134 English and Scottish clubs by the bookmaker.

As well as QPR Joey Barton and Cardiff City striker Peter Odemwingie, Ireland and Hull City midfielder David Meyler has promised to support the campaign when the Tigers visit St James’ Park on Saturday.
