Spurs close in on Croatian pair: Tottenham are nearing deals for Dinamo Zagreb’s Alen Halilovic and Tin Jedvaj which would cost a total of around £15m. Mooted as ‘the new Luka Modric’ by many, Halilovic is a highly-rated midfielder while Jedvaj plays in defence.

Sunderland bring in trio: The Black Cats have announced the signings of Valentin Roberge, Modibo Diakite and Cabral from Maritimo, Lazio and FC Basel respectively.

Cesar staying in London: Brazil keeper Julio Cesar, who won the Confederations Cup last night, has hinted that he will remain in the English capital – by joining Arsenal.

Swansea bid for Gomis: Lyon have confirmed that the Swans have made an offer for French international striker Bafetmbi  Gomis, but the 27-year-old is refusing to accept a move.

United to swoop for Garay: Rumours continue to surface about Ezequiel Garay’s move from Benfica to Manchester United. The Benfica defender could cost around £30m, however.

Saints want Damiao: Speculation that Southampton could beat Spurs to Leandro Damiao’s signature is false, accoring to Internacional’s director of football Luis Cesar Souto de Moura.
