This George Best-esque Wrexham AFC goal from the lower leagues has just made our Sunday

Dom Vose slalomed his way past half of the Gateshead team before firing to the net.

THERE’S A FAMOUS goal that George Best scored during his time with the San Jose Earthquakes in the North American Soccer League.

It was July 1981 and he dribbled around half of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers team within a radius of a few feet before slamming the ball to the net.

He later described it as his favourite strike ever.

That goal instantly sprang to my mind upon seeing the stand-out strike from Wrexham’s 4-0 victory over Gateshead in the top tier of the National League (formerly the Conference) this weekend.

21-year-old Dom Vose is a man in form, having netted seven before Saturday’s fixture. And it was his moment of absolute magic twenty minutes from time that’s got lots of people talking.

The club instantly dubbed it as the best goal in the club’s history and it’s inevitably gone viral.

Have a peek here – you won’t be disappointed.
