Done deal: Arsenal and Barcelona agree Song transfer

The Cameroon midfielder will join the Catalan club for €19 million, it was announced this evening.

ARSENAL ARE SET to lose their second player in a week after it was announced this evening that they have agreed to sell Alex Song to Barcelona.

The 24-year-old midfielder was left out of the Gunners squad for their Premier League fixture with Sunderland today, which they drew 0-0, amid speculation that a deal with the La Liga giants was close.

Now, just days after Arsene Wenger watched striker Robin van Persie join rivals Manchester United, the two clubs have confirmed that the transfer will go ahead.

In a statement on their website, Barcelona said:  ”FC Barcelona and Arsenal FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Alex Song for Barcelona.

The cost of the operation will be €19 million and the player signed contract for the next five seasons, with a buyout clause of €80 million.

On Arsenal’s official site, the club said: “Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Alex Song to Barcelona.

“Song will now travel to the Catalan club to agree personal terms and undergo a medical ahead of the proposed move.”
