Try of the World Cup so far? Canada tore Italy to shreds for this score

DTH, take a bow.

CANADA CAME VERY close to giving us another Rugby World Cup shock Saturday as they ran Italy extremely close before ultimately losing 23 – 18.

DTH van der Merwe followed up his gift of a try against Ireland with a terrific score almost entirely of his own making.

The former Glasgow wing (now signed with Scarlets) was handed the ball off the retart and he proceeded to bully his opposite number Giovanbattista out of the way to give him a clear run into the Azzuri half.

Once there, he found Ciaran Hearn on terrific support line and his offload took Tommy Allan out of the equation and allowed Van der Merwe scamper through the wreckage of scrambling defenders.

Despite the 10 – 0 advantage, Canada lost the game. Italy hit back with a try of their own and took the lead by the end of an exhilarating first half.
