Dublin's Diarmuid Connolly in the clear after Kildare flashpoint... for now

Forward clashed with Kildare defender Ciaran FitzPatrick with his knee in Newbridge yesterday.

DUBLIN FORWARD DIARMUID Connolly could find himself in hot water following this challenge on Kildare full back Ciaran Fitzpatrick during their O’Byrne Cup semi-final clash in Newbridge yesterday.

Connolly appears to kneel on Fitzpatrick’s head while the Lilywhite player is on the ground, sparking a clash between a number of players from both sides.

Kildare forward James Kavanagh and Connolly both received a yellow card from the referee, although it’s not clear whether the punishment was in relation to Connolly’s challenge on Fitzpatrick or his involvement in the ensuing exchanges.

A spokesperson for the Leinster Council told TheScore today that any proposed punishment depends on “what is included in the referee’s report. We have received no requests from either County Board for an enquiry.”

Both sides finished with 14 men in a game that Kildare won 1-11 to 0-8.
