Dublin 0-16
Wexford 0-11
DUBLIN RAN OUT comfortable winners over Wexford in their Electric Ireland Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship first round clash in Piercestown today.
Dublin, who were playing against the breeze in the opening period, found themselves five points clear 14 minutes into the game thanks in large part to the free-taking of Sean Grey.
Jake Firman and Cathal Dunbar — all from frees — got Wexford’s only scores of the first half and they went into the break trailing by four, 0-7 to 0-3.
Dublin stretched their lead to six points early in the second half with Chris Bennett, Con O’Callaghan and Matthew Oliver all adding to their first half scores.
Wexford fought back as Firman’s free-taking as well as scores from Darragh Pepper and Niall Hughes brought them within two points. However, it was Dublin who finished the stronger, getting five of the last six scores to clinch the win.
