TIP TACKLES ARE being policed very seriously in rugby today – and rightly so – but the downside to that is the decline of the dump tackle.
When executed right, the biggest injury you’ll dish out is a broken backside, which is what Robbie Fruean probably achieved with this tackle on Jade Te Rure in the ITM Championship Cup final.
There is a difference between a tip tackle and a dump tackle, and like the spiral kick, hopefully the dump doesn’t disappear from the game completely.
