EDDIE JONES IS barely in Europe a wet week and he’s already torn down a wall mural in tribute to one of the continent’s most muscular sons.
The Australian has been making a conscious effort to move well away from the Stuart Lancaster-era with a clean slate extending just far enough to install the previously-barred Dylan Hartley as his new captain.
However, we fear he may have gone too far as ESPN report that an inspirational quote from Arnold Schwarzenegger has been wiped off the face of their Pennyhill Park dressing room wall.
“Who? Is he up there is he?” Jones responded when asked about changes he made to the training base, including the desecration of Arnie’s gospel:
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.
“I didn’t see that, so it must have gone,” the Australian continued, “I’m not a big fan of his movies, so he definitely won’t be there.
“We’re starting afresh. In a lot of ways we’ve put a new coat of paint on the place. The players stay at the hotel, and the hotel is a nice five-star hotel. That’s where they relax. But once they step into the training centre it’s about business. So we want the players to be involved in setting up the training centre.”
Dylan, George, Billy: you have the power to right this wrong.
