EOGHAN O’CONNELL has signed a three-year deal with League One side Bury, bringing an end to his time with Glasgow Celtic.
The 21-year-old Cork native spent the last six years with the Scottish giants and made 13 appearances in all competitions for the senior side.
He made his debut in a league clash with Ross County in 2014 and when a loan deal to Oldham lasted only two games because of injury, he had a short-term stint with Cork City last year.
He seemed to catch the eye of new Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who afforded him several starts during pre-season and in the early part of the 2016/2017 season.
But as Rodgers began to tinker with his preferred starting lineup, O’Connell found minutes hard to come by. There was a substitute appearance in the 7-0 hammering suffered at the Camp Nou against Barcelona before he was sent on loan to Walsall in January.

They were front-runners to make the deal permanent this summer but O’Connell has elected to move to their League One rivals instead.
O’Connell’s older brother Andy is also a footballer and was last with Scottish Championship side Ayr United but parted ways with them in January.
