The plot: Benjamin “Benji” Wilson was Chicago’s basketball ‘messiah’ we’re told by one contributor. Big praise in a story that features the arrival of a young Michael Jordan to the Windy City. The top young baller in the States in 1984, Wilson was shot to death on the eve of the start of his senior season in high school. “He represents a dream unfulfilled” one observer sighs, “and that’s a bitter pill to swallow.”
