Gordon opens Barca account, Vinicus sent off for hair-pull and Bayern concede fastest goal
La Liga: Real Madrid 1-0 Villarreal, Barcelona 3-0 Getafe
YAN DIAMONDE EARNED Real Madrid a tight 1-0 victory over Villarreal to keep them six points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona, even though winger Vinicius Junior was sent off for hair-pulling.
Brazil international Vinicius, on as a substitute, scored but his goal was disallowed and then he was dismissed after a VAR review showed he pulled the hair of Villarreal’s Nathan Saliba.
Jose Mourinho’s Madrid battled through the final stages with 10 men but held on to their slender lead earned by 19-year-old winger Diomande to go provisionally third.
Champions Barca lead La Liga after a 3-0 win over Getafe, while Atletico Madrid are five points behind in second after they edged Alaves 2-1.
Despite Madrid’s victory, Vinicius’s red card left a bitter taste for Los Blancos, with the winger running the risk of a potential ban which could keep him out of the Clasico on October 25.
“I don’t know what’s going on with the referees, with this red card, I don’t understand, but the most important thing is the victory,” said Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
Madrid coach Mourinho complained bitterly about refereeing decisions which did not go his team’s way in the derby defeat by Atletico before the recent international break.
Striker Kylian Mbappe was fit to start the match for Madrid at their Santiago Bernabeu stadium after suffering a knee problem playing for France during the international break.
There were a smattering of whistles for the superstar forward, with some fans believing he has been unprofessional in recent weeks, but also applause from other supporters.
Earlier on Saturday, Anthony Gordon scored his first goal for Barca who extended their perfect start in La Liga with a comfortable win over Getafe.
England winger Gordon opened the scoring in the second minute and Gabriel Jesus added another after half an hour for the league leaders, who have won every match they have played this season.
France defender Jules Kounde tucked home the third from Lamine Yamal’s cross to cap Barca’s solid win against Jose Bordalas’s side at Camp Nou.
Bundesliga: Augsburg 2-2 Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at Augsburg after a mistake from Manuel Neuer led to the fastest goal in Bundesliga history.
Neuer handed Augsburg the lead after 8.4 seconds with an error that Robin Fellhauer capitalised on, before two assists from Harry Kane helped resuce a point in the second half.
Bayern missed the chance to knock Borussia Dortmund off top spot after the draw and remain two points behind the league leaders in second.
“It feels more like a defeat. On another day we would have won this game, but that’s football. We gave away two sloppy goals and they punished us for it,” Kane told Dazn.
Augsburg could not believe their luck after 40-year-old Neuer’s howler handed them the lead after just eight seconds.
Having received the ball straight from kick-off, Neuer chipped it directly into the path of Fellhauer, who ran it into the empty net.
Ligue 1: PSG 3-1 Le Mans
Paris Saint-Germain were comfortable 3-1 winners against Le Mans on Saturday before they look ahead to a tougher test away to Manchester City in the Champions League next week.
Their third win in a row after a slow start to the season came despite resting a host of players.
PSG went ahead through a first-half spot kick from centre-back Lucas Beraldo but Louis Mafouta brought Le Mans level at the Parc des Princes nine minutes after half-time.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia spent the first half on the bench but he put PSG ahead on 61 minutes, just two minutes after he was brought on, before Maghnes Akliouche wrapped up the win seven minutes later.
PSG move up to fifth before the back-to-back European champions travel to City, who are reeling after being found guilty of dozens of Premier League spending infractions, on Wednesday.
Monaco missed a chance to open up a two-point lead at the top as they were held to a 2-2 home draw by Toulouse. They lead Lille by a single point after the northern side beat Le Havre 1-0 at home.
