It's Irish Grand National Day and we've got expert tips worth considering

There’s another big day of racing at Fairyhouse, and Heed Your Hunch is here to help if you fancy a flutter.

THE FAIRYHOUSE EASTER Festival is in full flow this Bank Holiday weekend, and Betway’s Heed Your Hunch will once again provide you with three top tips each day

There doesn’t appear to be much documentation of what Jesus got up to on Monday, but he missed a trick if he didn’t head to Fairyhouse for the Irish Grand National (5.00).

Monday’s race looks another classy renewal and with half-a-million quid as the prize fund, it’s well-worth winning. Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliot dominate the entries, but have only won the race once between them.

The selection though, comes from a smaller stable — Snugsborough Benny (12/1), who won at Fairyhouse very nicely when last seen. The handicapper didn’t miss him either and penalised him with nine pounds.

He jumped well, having been uncharacteristically careful previously at Leopardstown, although that may have been the ground. He won the ‘Blazers’ at Galway, so he can handle a big field and will like the ground. The trip is the only unknown, but his pedigree is very stout and his jockey Denis O’Regan will ride him patiently to give him every chance.

Andy Dufresne (4/6) famously escaped Shawshank (spoiler alert), but his equine namesake escaped nobody’s attention when making his rules debut and hosing up at Down Royal.

It wasn’t a complete surprise given he cost the same as a three-bed semi in the commuter belt, but he did it in convincing fashion. The Gordon Elliott-trained five-year-old sidestepped the Cheltenham Champion Bumper (won by his stablemate Envoi Allen), so he lines up here fresh and should oblige in the Pro/Am Flat Race (6.10).
