Five things we learned this weekend...

I forgot my homework again… but here’s some lessons to take from the last few days of sport.

1. G-Mac likes a beer after good weekend’s work. Dead right.

Graeme McDowell tweeted this picture from Hawaii where he got his stay on the American tour off to a flier.

2. You can score with a flying back-heel now? Well, Napoli’s Edinson Cavani’s did to complete a hat-trick against Juve.

Repeat viewings help; I thought he headed it for the first 100 watches.

3. Behold the ‘greatest letter printed on NFL team letterhead’. Don’t say we don’t keep you informed of the day’s important issues!

4. That Leo Messi‘s a humbe aul fella. He won the Ballon D’Or last night at FIFA HQ, ahead of Barca team-mates Xavi and Andres Iniesta.

But, typically for the Argentine, he toasted his Camp Nou pals on the flight home. Top man (though Xavi should have won, right?).

5. Will Galway bate Mayo? Not with Billy Joe.

Son of green-and-red legend Willie Joe Padden, the Belmullet native is off to Carrickcruppen in Armagh, in a major blow for his native county.

He confirmed on his Twitter page today: “I’m very grateful to all involved in Mayo football and your good wishes are much appreciated.”
