Floodlight robbery: Kildare's GAA HQ raided by gang

Thieves take Lilywhites’ equipment and what they probably thought were tickets for this weekend’s game.

GARDAÍ ARE HUNTING a gang who broke into the headquarters of Kildare GAA.

The Hawkfield centre,  Kildare GAA’s new €3.5million centre of excellence on the outskirts of Newbridge, was broken into late last night.

It is understood an amount of damage was done to the new facility, as well as the theft of some team equipment.

It was earlier reported in local press in Kildare that tickets for this Saturday’s football qualifiers in Croke Park were among the items stolen, but this was dismissed by a Croke Park spokesperson when contacted by TheScore.

A GAA official said tickets for the match “would not have been in the facility as they are not sent out in rolls or bundles anymore.” HoganStand reports that it was actually blank stubs that were taken.
