'Elephants don't beef with ants' - Mayweather has another dig at McGregor

“Have you ever made $300 million in one night?” the American boxer asked.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER’S long-running slanging match with Conor McGregor shows no sign of abating after the American boxer’s latest provocative remarks.

When asked about McGregor’s latest fight by a reporter from TMZ, Mayweather claimed he didn’t know about it and dismissed comparisons between the two fighters.

“I didn’t know he had a reign in MMA for 20 years undefeated and was world champion in five different weight classes. That’s something I didn’t know,” the boxing icon said, with more than a hint of sarcasm.

“So I guess you guys are telling me something new if you say he is the ‘Floyd Mayweather of the MMA’.

If you’re saying he’s the ‘Floyd Mayweather of the MMA,’ have you ever made $300 million in one night? Have you ever made $100 million in one night? Have you ever made $70 million in one night?

“It’s okay to say (that he’s the ‘Floyd Mayweather of MMA’), but it’s not true.

“Never compare Conor McGregor to me, that’s total disrespect.

“I’m an elephant. Elephants don’t beef with ants.”

The two athletes have been engaged in a long-running feud, with both at various points teasing the possibility of a fight being arranged in future.

Right now I have Floyd running around the Showtime offices gathering my money,” McGregor said back in September. “That’s what he’s doing. He’s running around the Showtime offices, begging for those executives to come up with $100 million cash for me to fight me. So as soon as he gets my money, we can fight.”

Referring to Mayweather’s preference to box rather than compete in MMA, McGregor added: “If you want to fight me, we can fight. If you need a specific rule-set to protect you from a true fight, that’s no problem.

“Just make sure that money is there. As long as that money is there, then we can fight under your safety net of rules. But me, I don’t need rules. I am the fucking rules.”

Meanwhile, Mayweather also stated previously when speaking that there was unlikely to be a bout arranged anytime soon.

I tried to make the fight happen between me and Conor McGregor. We weren’t able to make the fight happen so we must move on,” he said.

“It’s so crazy that when I talk about fighting Conor McGregor, now you’ve got so many other fighters that are in boxing who want to fight Conor McGregor. But I was the first, once again. I feel honoured to be the biggest name in MMA and in boxing, and I don’t even compete no more.”
